How can you tell if content in a forwarded email has been edited?

I have been forwarded an email trail containing a conversation between two people - one of the parties involved states that they didn't write some of the content. Is there a way for me to check if the email has been changed or added to?

How can you tell if content in a forwarded email has been edited?
There is no way to check if the e-mail has been tampered with, unless the people involved used a certificate. I sent someone a 'certified' (encrypted), mail once which was opened by the IT mail administrator (before reaching it's intended recipient). It turned up as gobldygook in the end, which means a third party had interfered with it.

So it is possible to detect altered mail, but not unless your mail has been certified. You can get a free certificate here....

Reply:Hello,

Sorry, no, there is no way to verify who created or deleted the original content of a forwarded e-mail.

Reply:nope and nope. I forward often and edit out everything that is extranious. The only way to tell would be if they still had the original in their "sent" folder.
Reply:Not really. I can edit all the content of all the files and change datestamps etc.
