How to I start talking to this guy over email without being to obvious?

There is this guy who I met a few times but haven't really spoken to properly. I really like him and I know that he likes me, I got his email but i don't know how to start off talking to him. I don't want to tell him I like him straight away because I just wanna get to know him first and then maybe I might tell him later. Any ideas on what I could say in my email?
